We had quite a busy weekend but it was a great one. It started off with the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt. Unfortunately, we were two minutes late and all the eggs were gone, but Mason seemed content with just picking up the egg halfs that had been left all over the ground. And it worked out for us also, because we didn't have to worry about all the candy in the eggs:) Lisa and Paul joined us for the hunt and then lunch from Rudy's afterward.
On Saturday night we explained to Mason that the Easter Bunny would be coming and leaving him presents in his dump truck Easter basket and he seemed to totally get it and was excited. All day on Easter he kept saying "Easter Bunny come, presents" it was pretty cute. After his nap we headed over to my parents house for an early dinner and an Easter Egg hunt. At this hunt, Mason was the only participant so all the eggs belonged to him. Also at lunch was my cousin Laura and her partner Kerry and their new twin girls Carlise and Vivian. Mason loves the babies and talks about them all the time. We got some pretty cute pictures of the three of them. Watch out Mason, I have a feeling next year these girls are going to be a force to be reckoned with on the Easter Egg hunt. You can see in the pictures, Mason is already having to protect his eggs from the girls:) Mom also got some confetti eggs which she let us break all over the house, Mason was having a blast getting everyone with the eggs. But my obsessively clean son was a quite bit concerned about the mess it made on Grandma's carpet, we assured him that it would be cleaned up.
So we had a pretty great weekend, in fact it was so great that Mason wants to keep reliving it over and over. Tonight when I put him to bed, he asked me about 30 times if the Easter Bunny was coming, how do you explain to a 19 month old that you only do that once a year? It doesn't make any sense to do something so fun only once a year. It just broke my heart to say no the Easter Bunny is not coming........so I think I am going to have to have a mini egg hunt tomorrow morning......just for the fun of it:)
